TradesQuote now accepts DWG files — the native AutoCAD format — in addition to DXF. When a DWG is uploaded, it is automatically converted to DXF using CloudConvert before being passed to the AI estimator. No manual export step is required.
How It Works
- Upload a DWG file from the new estimate form
- TradesQuote sends the file to CloudConvert for DWG → DXF conversion as the first phase of the estimate workflow
- The converted DXF is stored and parsed the same way as a directly uploaded DXF file
- CAD context (layers, dimensions, entity counts, areas) flows into the AI estimator prompt
Why This Matters
DWG is the most common format contractors receive from designers and engineers. Accepting it directly removes the friction of converting files before uploading, so you can go from a drawing to a draft estimate faster.
